The egg hovering over the mummy symbolizes hope and promise. Probably, from the combination of these two symbols, a type of cross appeared, which is called ankh. The symbolism of the egg is associated with fertility (this is the "analog" of grain in the animal kingdom) and immortality. In Easter rituals among the Slavs, the egg is the main symbol embodying the idea of immortality (compare in folklore the image of the death of Koshchei placed in an egg). In addition, the egg appears as a cosmogonic symbol: the image of the world (cosmic) egg can be found in most mythological traditions.
Among the Orphic people, the world egg, which gave birth to everything that exists, was correlated with chaos as a creative principle. In the Japanese myth, which tells about the creation of the world, the existing primitive chaos is compared to an egg that contains the seeds of creation. Similar motives about the origin of heaven and earth from two halves of an egg are found in other traditions (for example, in the Finnish epic Kalevala it says: “From the egg, from the lower part, the mother came out raw earth; from the egg, from the upper part, the high vault of heaven "). Sometimes the sun is described as originating from an egg; the golden egg is a solar symbol.

The egg is the beginning of life, however, in addition to this, it symbolizes offspring, rebirth and new life.
